We have never regretted the undeveloped land that the town has acquired. We have often regretted permitting land to go into development.
Let’s not do something that we will regret and that will be irrevocable. Preserve the farm for community farming.
Executive Order 193, in effect since Ed King was governor, says “State funds… shall not be used to encourage the conversion of agricultural land to other uses when feasible alternatives are available.”
If Lexington is using CPA funds (or other state grants or loans) then EO193 applies – the state should refrain from investing in farmland destruction — if they do so – they are obliged to pay to replace the farm with equal quality, local farm land.
