SPRING 2015 EDUCATION PROGRAMMING

Farm Babies

A program for the 15-months-and-under set and their caregivers to play, sing songs, listen to farm stories, and explore what happens on a working farm. Adults will engage in prompted discussion about sustainable parenting. Our spring theme is: Getting back to the soil.

Price: $8 per week for members; $10 per week for non-members

Dirt Play

A program for 1-5 year olds and their caregivers to put hands in soil, meet new friends, help in the Learning Garden, and do crafts. Our spring theme is: Why do plants need soil?
Meets: Fridays, May 22-June 26, 10-11am.
Price: $8 per week for members; $10 per week for non-members

Dirt Scouts

A program for grades 2-5 to help operate our community farm. Students will help with chores around the farm, including planting, weeding, preparing the farm stand, making signs to educate the public about what is growing in our soil, and setting up the CSA. Students will receive an ice cream voucher at the conclusion of each week.
Meets: Wednesdays, May 20-June 24, 4-5pm.
Price: $36 for six-week session

Farm Educators in Training

An opportunity for middle and high school students to help with programs on the farm. Farm Educators in Training will help with Dirt Scouts, Multi-Generational Gardening, and other programs.
Meets: To help with Dirt Scouts: Wednesdays, May 20-June 24, 3:45-5:00pm. To help with other programs, sign up to receive information when available.
Price: Free!

Multi-Generational Gardening

Spend an hour each week in the Learning Garden planting, weeding, harvesting, and learning! Work alongside educators and other LexFarm community members of all ages.
Meets: TBD; sign up to receive information when available.
Suggested donation: $8 per week for members

Soil Scholars

A program for non-gardeners to seasoned growers to come together on the farm and discuss recent research and articles about sustainable land use, soil health, and the local food movement. Think “book club for the farm.”
Meets: Wednesdays, June 3, July 1, August 5, September 2, and October 7
Price: $48 for members; $60 for non-members
